Luck of the Draw
- The annual 4-H Luck of the Draw fundraiser will be held at the Cedar Canyon Steakhouse in conjunction with the Heart City Bull Bash on February 9. Tickets for the raffle will be sold from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm with the drawing starting at 4:30. If your family or club would like to donate something for the raffle, please contact Maggie Cox at 402-322-0180 or email her at Maggie.firstname.lastname@example.org. The 4-H Council is requesting all donations be delivered to the Extension Office no later than January 28 so they can be included in advertising. 4-Hers are encouraged to help with set-up, ticket sales and clean-up.
- Pre-ticket sales will be offered for the Luck of the Draw. 4-Hers can stop by the Extension Office to pick up the packets. Pre-sale tickets will only be sold from Wednesday, January 16 through February 6. This is a great opportunity to sell tickets to those individuals that might be short on time the day of the Bull Bash. 4-Hers will be responsible for all the tickets that they pick up for pre-sale. Any unsold tickets will need to be returned to the Extension Office. The 4-H Council will provide two movie passes to the top pre-sale ticket seller.
Market Beef Weigh In
- If you are planning to show Market Beef for the 2013 4-H year there are two options for the required I.D. and weigh-in. Weigh-in dates are February 23rd or February 24th at Valentine Livestock Auction from 2:00 -3:00 pm, CT. Calves need to be 4-H tagged prior to weigh-in. ID sheets, bills of sale and ear tags need to be picked up at the Extension Office. Tags will cost $1.25 each. If you have ear tags from last year, or tags still in from a feeder calf project, those will be okay unless you plan on exhibiting at the Nebraska State Fair or Ak-Sar-Ben. Bill of Sale and ID sheets must be turned in at the time you weigh. Make sure you have all required signatures. If you are planning to show at Ak-Sar-Ben or State Fair, DNA hair samples will need to be collected. Cost for each DNA sample is $6. Please share this information with any new youth that might be considering a Market Beef project, but haven’t enrolled in 4-H yet.
