Hog Project Info
Due to Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV), Cherry County 4-Hers exhibiting hogs will not be bringing them to the county-wide ID day. 4-H families will tag and ID on their own. Please refer to the PEDV information on our website at http://cherry.unl.edu/cherrycounty4h to learn how PEDV will affect your 4-H project and learn what 4-Hers can do to improve biosecurity.

2014 Beef Ambassador Contest
Do you know a student that has a passion for the beef industry? The Nebraska CattleWomen will host the 2014 Beef Ambassador Contest on June 11th in Gothenburg, Nebraska. The contest will begin at 1:00 pm. The contest provides an opportunity for youth to become spokesperson and future leaders of the beef industry. Cash prizes will be awarded in each of the three age divisions. Age divisions are based on the student’s age as of September 1, 2014. Junior division is 8-12 years old, intermediate is 12-16 years old, and senior division is 17-20 years old. The winners of the intermediate and senior division may be eligible to compete for the National Beef Ambassador contest in Denver, Colorado. All Nebraska Beef Ambassadors will be invited to promote the beef industry at events such as the Nebraska State Fair. Contest rules and registration forms are available on the Nebraska Cattlemen website (www.nebraskacattlemen.org) Registration must be post marked by May 15th.
