Cherry County Family & Consumer Science Committee members, Robbie Blume and Michelle Garwood, received a Cherry County 4-H Foundation Grant to conduct a FCS Tour in conjunction with the State Life Challenge June 19-21 in Lincoln, NE.  This tour is open to Cherry County 4-H youth ages 8-18.  4-Hers ages 10 and up can be on the Life Challenge Team and youth ages 8-9 will observe the competition and begin training as future team members!

During the tour, youth will receive a “behind the scenes” tour of the International Quilt Study Center at UNL, meet UNL professors and tour the campus, receive training on die cut techniques at the AccuCut Factory near Omaha, visit the Ruth Staples Child Development Lab, and design pottery at Paint Yourself Silly.

Thanks to the Foundation Grant and money from the Family Science Committee, costs will be kept to a minimum for youth. If you are interested in either the tour or the Life Challenge competition, please e-mail Jody Dexter at jdexter3@unl.edu by April 21.
